I'm working on covers for The Card Cheat pitch. Marc and I have really strong (and sometimes contrary) opinions on comic book covers.
Just a few of the things we've discussed:
- Comic book covers are not book covers and are not movie posters. They can take elements from those (just like design takes elements for architecture movements, fine art, and more), but they are their own unique beast.
- Static poses are generally bad unless: The pose is either right before or just after some action.
- Dave Johnson is a Cover Design Master.
