The Anything Machine Project

Last week I launched The Anything Machine Project. The idea behind it is simple: to highlight ingenious things I come across in my feed reading.

We live in a world where every bit of ingenuity or invention is dissected and picked apart. It's become so easy to be negative and snarky, as opposed to just sit back and realize we live in a really cool world and people are doing really amazing work. The Anything Machine Project is my effort to bring more positive things people are doing forward.

We're smart people doing/saying/thinking really fantastic things right now. Who cares if we don't have jet packs and laser guns?

A couple of details:

I'm running it on Tumblr as an experiment. It gave me a chance to see what Tumblr is capable of (after having an account for a year now and doing nothing with it) and it took all the hard work out of my hands. Visitors can submit stories, links, videos, whatever, via Tumblr's submission engine as well, which is a major plus.

The whole thing is a knee-jerk reaction, more or less. I wanted to have a low barrier of design work on my part (so I wouldn't get bogged down in the details and never put the site up) and have the content be easily digested for the user. Tumblr let me do all of that. So thumbs up to you Tumblr.

Anyway, Enjoy: The Anything Machine Project
